Description
TFP is based on an understanding and focus on transference, an essential tool for understanding and transforming the patient’s relational dynamics. The aim of therapy being to promote a reorganization of these complex dynamics in order to improve functioning. Personality disorders are understood from the perspective of object relations theory. During the first two days of training, we will present the typical psychopathological features of borderline personality organization and their relational implications, including on a therapeutic level. We’ll look at the concepts of object dyads, borderline organization, split and transferential dynamics. We’ll look at how to carry out a psychodynamic diagnosis using the structural interview. We’ll also look at the aims of TFP and how it differs from traditional psychodynamic therapy.
