Description

The aim of this half-day event is to explore the relationship between the vast field of psychosis and schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and the equality vast field of personality disorders.
Indeed there do seem to be areas of overlap as psychotic phenomena can be observed in borderline patients, just as personality issues are observed in patient on the schizophrenia, spectrum. Prof. Louis Diguer will propose an understanding of these issues based on the Object Relations School (Abraham, Klein, Kernberg, Meehl and Garrett), which defines a psychotic personality, structurally, distinct from borderline personalities and schizophrenia. From this understanding, we have developed a set of principles that can be used to guide care in psychiatric and psychotherapy, in particular, with regards to transference and countertransference issues, as well as the need to integrate, careful monitoring, and psychosocial reality into the work of analysis.
