INFORMATION | REGISTRATION

Description

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a complex and prevalent mental disorder that significantly compromises relationship and work-related functioning, with implications for social, political and organizational life. Clinicians of all stripes report high rates of narcissistic pathology in their caseloads. While the DSM-5 enumerates descriptive criteria for NPD, it fails to address the range of presentations and range of severity that can characterize the disorder. In this conference we will present an overview of NPD within apsychodynamic object-relations theory frame of reference. We will present material on topics including the object relations theory-based structural formulation of NPD, assessment and treatment with Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), and love relations in adults and adolescents with pathological and malignant narcissism.
