English – Onsite (Academic departments of psychiatry in South Africa)
Dr. Tennyson Lee, Dr. Craig Bracken, Chaired by Prof Henk Temming
Description
The course comprises didactic input and application of this to practical scenarios. A particular strength of the course is the emphasis on clinical material. The course is an extension of a workshop run on the pilot day of the 2021 Royal College Psychiatry Congress and successful training in London, showing significant improvement in attitudes and confidence after teaching.
The educational objectives are to describe the theoretical origin and principles of TFP and demonstrate the practical application of the strategy, tactics and technique of TFP to the clinical encounter with a patient with PD. The workshop is for psychiatry registrars and psychiatrists as well and other colleagues who work with personality disorder patients.
Theoretical input will be illustrated in all sessions with the use of clinical case scenarios, video, and role play. Participants will be encouraged to discuss their clinical experience. The workshop is structured around a paper on the application of TFP.
