Description

Dear ISTFP Colleagues,

In 2024, after many efforts, the Polish TFP Association was established as a platform bringing together psychotherapists who identify with Transference Focused Psychotherapy. Poland is an interesting country on the psychotherapeutic map of the world, not only of Europe, but also it has the largest percentage of psychotherapists defining their work on the basis of psychodynamic modality. At the same time, only a part of this group of psychotherapists tries to work with patients on the basis of the model developed by Dr. Otto Kernberg, and then as TFP by colleagues affiliated with the ISTFP.

Psychotherapists associated with the Polish TFP Association, the Polish Society for Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PTPPd) and the Krakow Psychodynamic Center,  is the group of psychotherapists who have been taking part in its own TFP training for more than 12 years, acquiring TFP psychotherapist and supervisor-teacher certificates, organizes trainings, seminars and supervisions, trying to systematically develop and implement TFP psychotherapy in Poland. This group have been taking care of its substantive standards, encouraging psychotherapists already educated in psychodynamic psychotherapy to specialized training.

This attitude of our community results in a very high interest in TFP psychotherapy, a willingness to undertake training, which at the moment translates into more than a dozen groups undergoing training for TFP psychotherapist certification in the future.

The current Conference entitled: “Transference-Focused Psychotherapy –  past-present and future” would be a social – and we hope, also international – inauguration of our activities. We would like to encourage the participation of psychotherapists interested in TFP from Poland and all over the world, hoping that the great guests we have invited, such as Otto Kernberg, Frank Yeomans, Nel Draijer and Luis Valenciano, will certainly provide us all with plenty of reasons to reflect on the psychotherapy we practice in our offices.

We hope to see you all soon!

Dr. Maciej Wilk

President of the Polish TFP Association
